Forgive me for Being Slow

Certainly it's been done before?

If you ' had the misfortune of seeing my last two videos, you'll realize two things:
1. I discovered the built in movie creator for the iOS
2. I wonder: if break in REALLY the important?

I think we all agree, should one ask of the importance of a break in on these basher forums you would get every level of hyperbole their little minds can muster up, (and hell yes I admit it's greatness), however, unfortunately, 99.9% if not 100% of them truly have not experienced these things on which they spea. Fancy way of saying they are full of sh*t.

I mean I am somewhere between 38-40 engines I've broken in, and I assure you all of them did not go alike. Say what you will, but that's some pretty salty experience compared to these guys with 1, 2, hell TWENTY engines. It is what it is. So, now if I have these questions after my experience, either I'm one stoopid SOB, they are all geniuses, a mixture of both...or "gasp" they are pulling things out of their ass, or repeatint what's been yanked from someone else rectum.

First I have to define break-in: it's the manner in which one brings an engine from a non-functioning state to an optimized state. The end result is an engine what will respond to the variables such as, air/fuel mixture, heat, pressure waves, etc.

So while yes, to make the statement: "It's the difference between running and not running" so are a million other things however the pre-condition here is that it has been broken in per my definition above.

With that, the the question is Does the break-in Process make a Difference,? we have to define "difference".

In my mind, there are two interests: peak performance, and longevity. Meaning that if I 'screw up my break-in'....what's gonna happen? Will the engine not be as strong as it normally would/ Will it be as strong but parts will wear sooner? Both? Neither?

I Don't Know If It Makes a Difference
Please understand that engines behave differently. I have four of those F4.6 and they perform slightly different. Is this due to break in? Hell, I have NO IDEA.

Guess What?
I won't have an idea after this little experiment either. But I'll know SOMETHING. So if the thought is you should never go WOT until the sixth tank, yet I'm going WOT the second tank....and five gallons later I show you the engine rippin' ass....I'll say waiting until the sixth tank to go WOT is bullshit. But that is talk-talk.

Now if I show you that engine compared to the SAME engine broken in a different way...well know we are learning things. Everybody.

In my next video I'll tell you what I DO know....as while I'm wanting feedback on what a good antithesis break-in will be,I'm obviously not going to reinvent the wheel.

Finally, I totally understand I'm not splitting the atom here. I've got no agenda, nor to be candid, no preconceived notions. Not looking to prove anyone or anything right or wrong. I'm confident that there are pros whom have conducted like tests (or better), but I'm just a chump with a camera curious about something that gets a lot of rah-rah talk, and before I speak on it I want to know I am really about that.

For you losers, lemme get out my calculator and put it down

Always a Pleasure
Below is a link to something I've spoken about several times. Surprisingly enough, this is from our latest "perfect example of a flatline basher". Otherwise known as "I'm a pro and know everything about nitro engines" guy.

In all seriousness, I'm thankful he is providing contact. My thinking is "I got one!" because now he can pretend all he likes, but once he starts endangering my fellow newbies with the bullshit I'm on it as he kind hide in YT like they do on those forums (or think they are).

This Bank
So what's my point? Not much. Simply showing an example of someone who truly feels he has this entire nitro thing figured out, but ironically it's close to being the opposite (meaning his true skill level is not even novice yet). They do videos and jump on forums etc etc simply to IMPRESS, instead of adding true value. Using big words confuses their audience as newbies don't know better Of course I only go after the ones who come at me with the rah-rah shit when I tactfully ask them to get their facts straight when misleading newbies like they do. Many of them will say "valid point' or "that's fair" and it's all good, we move on...and some of them I've gotten to know. As in real life they live near me and we'll sync for a beer periodically.

But remember, I'm a MF'er so have no problems pointing how ridiculous the di*kheads are. No problem. I enjoy it actually. Yeah, that's right.

Get to the Point, Man!
So in today's episode, we dwelve into the category of those who feel success in this hobby is based on what they spend. Their only contribution is what they received in the mail that day. Now two things: first I'm not hating on cost, because in all candor, the price he's touting here, well, my cheapest RC is roughly that dollar amount invested. Nor am I hating on upgrading, because yeah--it's an incredibly enjoyable part of this hobby.

It's Like That
However, for you guys new please be weary of the following.
1. The tone is "This is for all the suckers who didn't believe I spent x amount on this rc vehicle.
2. You hear the word aluminum a lot. I'm not hating on aluminum, but to truly put it down, aluminum is RARELY an upgrade, and OFTEN a liability. Not across the board, but when you hear someone aluminum this and aluminum that, yet the parts they are replacing have not broken nor caused any damage...well it's most likely for show.
3. So enjoy while he takes out a calculator and proves to us all how successful he's been at purchasing parts. No doubt he lays it down...except there is little if any intel on WHY he bought them, which I would think is what is TRULY important. Not attempting to make yourself look "better" than the viewer.

BIG BORE!

Thought of the Week

Blog Text
My only true claim to fame in this world is that I was one of the first to make one window's based application talk to another window's-based application (thus I was a pioneer). ]

I find it gratifying that people are just now beginning to realize the true value in this as through out the years as I would explain it I could see imaginary question marks forming over the listeners head. These are called integrations, So if you set a reminder in one app and it automatically saves it to a calendar of your choice, it's not magic.

Understand. not only did I help develop the languages, but more importantly the platform for these languages and framework for which it needs to run.

That's simply a fancy way of saying you can make gibberish all you want, but it's just that unless you also provide something that understands the gibberish (or at least has the ability to if and when needed).

In the grand scheme of things it's not like I split the atom, But it is something I did that that will outlive me. Real shit.

I tell you this simply so its understood that I have enough self-awareness to realize after spending 20 years "doing this", my mind thinks in terms of fitting a square peg in a round hole. Or, "what does this thing need to do to get from point A to point ?".

Examples? Sure. This is not something as trivial as providing authentication data from one system to another. No, think much more deeply. Instead it's ascertaining INTENT and ensuring all resources are calibrated and optimized (they are ready to put it down). I've learned this line of think's influence spans way beyond building RC vehicles.

So with that I just though of a new bit. I need a title, let me spin spin my roledex of years for title.

CLICK HERE tto see the process of coming up with a new title for this bit. . Else let's move on..

Back to frameworks and ensuring components are set up for success and raring to go. Have a seat while I hit you up with sound advice. Eliminate as many point of failures as you can.

That's that. I could end this post with that advice, but I'm not because I'm long winded. However that objective is worth striving for.

Is Bigger Better?

When I first started this hobby the two buzz words were "Big Block" and "Big Bore". You do of course know, these are straight up BS words made my some evil scientists who pander to the Ricky Bobby Lee's. It's like my good friend Bob Arum said: Trump is not a racist. He's worse - he's someone who panders to racists. (This is merely and example, let's not get political: trust me)..

Back to marketing terms. It's like "Large Scale."

Large Scale? You know it's a scale. Only bigger. With lots of stuff on it, similar to a big salad, instead of saying .21 for engine, and 16+mm volume for shocks they have cool names".

NOTE: if someone uses the term "Big Block" today, please laugh at them. Trust me, that doesn't mean they are old skool. It means they are old skool by defacto but not truly with it. You think these old timers who have been around forever (Drake, Lutz. Coleman, et al) use the term "Big Block? c'mon, now.

When it comes to the Hyper 7, I've put a min 5 gallons with the stock 14 mm shocks. Five gallons with the original 12mm shocks. And five gallons with a set of 17mm (Mugen MBX 7 shocks).

In my next vid you will see what I've elected to move forward with on a permanent basis, and WHY. The answer might surprise you, or it might not.

Winston likes meatballs.

Data Never Lies

While I KNOW I'm venturing in to some deep waters here, allow me to fully disclose I don't know a DAMN thing about math or anything where there are too many numbers. If someone says the Output of that engine is  3.1PS, 3.06, HP/33,000RPM and that the practical RPM is 4-39k I can't tell you what the means.

But you know what I can tell you? I can tell how that compares against engines with weaker, exact, or superior specs. As in like 25 UNIQUE engines. I know I like long stroke over short because I have something like 16 long strokes and 12 short strke engines

So it's like with my ride heights. I know I like the front of my Mugen to be level with the 29 tick on the ruler, and the real to be level with the 31 tick. Where my Losi like 32/31 in most traction conditions, shiiiit, That;s good enough for me.I've got way too much going on to even worry about too much "why" when it comes to that.

Instead of "Why" I Focus on "Is"

As an example, I know that there is a WHOLE LOT of "Is" when it comes to weight/power distribution in this hobby. Wow. Want to talk about a vehicle's DNA? The way these things perform begin and end with weight/power distribution. Oh, everything in between revolves around that as well, It IS surface RC.

Those 25's are Straight Killers

This is why I am a huge proponent of those .25 engines. They have considerable power gain over those .21 without much weight gain compared to those .28.

Specifically, In buggy and truggy, I've found that a

THESE SPECS
Displacement: 0.25 cu in (4.09cc)
Output: 3.1 PS, 3.06 HP/33,000 RPM
Bore: 0.689" (     )
Stroke: 0.669 cu in (17mm)
Practical RPM Range: 4,000-39,000 RPM
Weight: 13.05oz (370g)

Will move the EXACT SAME VEHICLE FASTER than and engine with these specs
Displacement: 0.284 cu in (4.65cc)
Output: 3.31 PS, 3.26 HP/32,000 RPM

Bore: 0.728" (18.5mm)
Stroke: 0.681 cu in (17.3mm)
Practical RPM Range: 4,000-38,000 RPM
Weight: 13.2oz (375g)

Again, why is it? I have no clue. I imagine the reduction in weight, as well a the LCG, and other "intangibles" outweigh the larger displacement. Shorter rod, shorter strokes, more RPM....I just know it does, that much I can speak to.

Ninnon Was Wrong

I have a pretty interesting vid coming out soon concerning the Hyper 7 and what it's REALLY about. I call this the "I heard" vehicle. Meaning on these forums people often ask about this vehicle and the same guys answer ever post (simply to hear themselves talk) chime in with "I heard").

So now I have to devote a segment to setting the record straight. This cat, "Ninnon" on these forums....SMH. Well, here is an example:

1. Newbie asked abot Hyper 7 vs Trophy. This guy Ninnon spouts a slew of BS how the Trophy is better.
2. Two problems: (i) Is reasoning was factually incorrect. (ii) He doesn't own a Hyper 7 (nor even a Trophy, I believe.
3. Instead of slapping his ass down publicly, I stuck by the golden rule. I contacted privately him to inform him of his factual errors so he would not mistakenly tell newbies this information again. I do this incognito. (It should not matter if I'm a day 1 guy or a 20 year vet: facts or facts).
4. Bullies are just that: instead of taking feedback from a perceived newbie, he took it upon himself to dress me down and "how dare you question me."
5. Okay, gloves are off. I one by one (still privately) refute his misinformation. Examples

  • Hyper 7 made in the UK
  • Hyper 7 lighter  (thus less durable)
  • Trophy has more aluminum parts
  • Trophy is "faster" than the Hyper 7
The last bullet item is difficult to factually dispute. So instead I kept it simple. I sent a vid of my Hyper 7 going fast, and asked him to find me a video of ANY Trophy going faster. Unless there is another way to quantify which one is faster, that is all I know.

So at this stage, a bitch will be a bitch. You see instead of being a man and focusing on the facts that he was pro-active in providing factually incorrect information to a large audience he went in to attack mode. You see, had that been me, I would have edited my post and made an announcement tyo all apologizing and ensuring the record was straight.

But this chump? He'd rather fu*k a newbie over and save face, as opposed with 'fessing up that he was mistaken. As I've stated several times. Where I come from, that is the definition of bitch and I call it like I see it. No offense to him or anything. He's just a bitch. So now I have to really lay it down and ensure that we can easily see the truth, and at a minimum allow a differing opinion so people have OPTIONS.

DavidBasher is in the house

And he's laying it down, taking no prisoners so enjoy it while you can.

Almost Lost My Best Friend

It's amazing how we, as human beings, live so close to the edge of complete devastation as we do. While I firmly believe one should not go through life worrying about anything that is inevitable, it is incumbent upon us to recognize, reflect, and think of those less fortunate.

Here's a simple way to interpret all that bullsh*t I wrote above. Have you ever had an ailment (toothache, stomachache, headache, etc.) and thought to yourself you will never take NOT having that ailment again for granted? There ya go.

While I grew up with dogs, it wasn't until my early 30's that TRULY leaned what love meant. I learned that from having kids, and in addition to man's other best friend, the wonderful canine. Specific to this example: Humphrey the pug. For 10+ years this dog Humphrey and I did EVERYTHING together. We were thick as thieves and everywhere I went, he was by my side. The only time he was not was when I away from the house in a place unable to take care of him (work, restaurants, etc.), but other than that we were always together.

I never imagined in my life I would come close to duplicating the relationship I had with Humphrey. I mean it's a once-in-a-thirty-year relationship, right?

Well, for some reason I'm not going to even try and analyze as to how or why: I've become as close if not more close to the latest jerk I keep as a side-kick: Winston. He and Humphrey are the complete opposite in ever way. The best way I can articulate it in to a human analogy: Humphrey was a fighter and Winston is a lover. I could be wrong as rain. All I know is everyone who has been around us will tell you how both dogs were able to communicate on levels for which they have never seen.

It's a snotty breed. Expensive, historically bred for the upper-class, etc. Some people think they are ugly as sin, some thing they hung the moon with how cute they are, etc. I just know this. As a guy's guy:  what I DO know about Pugs is this: they are 8+ lbs of pure kick-ass. They are trusting to a fault. By "fault" they will wander off without thinking of any repercussions. "My owner will get me when he's ready....." and off they will go, baby!

I can't tell you how many times I'd be at the park, 6:00am on a Saturday morning with the kids in a stroller, letting Humphrey run wild within ear-shot of me. If I diverted my attention for more than 30 seconds I'd look up and he 30 seconds away. That's just how they are: there is no changing that.

So the other night when my wife said "Where's Winston?" things changed. "That's a good question", I thought. I'd last seen him about an hour ago in the back yard. It's very odd for him to spend that much time alone.

I knew.

I knew he had taken off. I could not be bothered to worry about how or when, I just got to business. You see, I know the pain and did want to experience it again. It's real shit.

I know what it's like to come home from work, notice that utility workers who were there earlier did not properly close the gate, and well, by best friend was gone. I know the feeling of driving around all night not finding him. I know the feeling of coming home on my lunch hour the next day to search some more, seeing my best friend dead in the street from being hit by a car. I know the feeling of standing over him sobbing while strangers consoled me.

I did not want to feel that again. I repeat: I GOT TO BUSINESS.It was about 10:30pm. I delegated some "searching" tasks to my wife and children, jumped in the minivan...and prayed. You see, I could not envision a scenario where I could accept anything except Winston being near by side as I went to bed, so I prayed I could handle whatever scenario was put upon me. I've been around and consequently know how shit can go down, so once again I got to MFing business!

To make a long story short (if it's possible at this point, I literally set up a perimeter, and circled in on him.

Guys, I'm 44 years old. I'm an experienced 44-year old, know that. Meaning I've done, seen, felt, experienced a LOT in my time here. As stated I could not envision a scenario where I could go without my best friend. This is why I cannot even begin to describe the euphoria I had when I saw him creep out of the shadows, about six blocks away.

  1. We locked eyes
  2. Not knowing who I was at first, Winston got low (like he's gonna do something SMH ha ha)
  3. I called his name, He lit me up with that dumbass smile and ran in to my arms!
  4. I heard the expression "coming home from seven wars, alive" many years ago, it's the best I can explain it. TOTAL
I know there will be a period of time where he and I will not be together, but I'm not ready for that just yet. I pray that Winston outlives me. All I know is that he gave me top 3 happiest moments of my life when I found him, simply because complete devastation was averted. It's crazy, still, to think about how close live to that. This is why, I go through life doing ALL I CAN to control my span of influence. Regrets, as an example. 14 years ago when I my first child was born,. I made an oath that 20 years later I would not look back and wish I had devoted more of myself, and to a man I have ZERO regrets to-date,. It's all we can do, and the rest (good and bad) will play out as is His vision. That's what I believe anyway.  I could be wrong as anything, but I roll with I believe to the best of my ability.

p.s. Yes he has a tag, yes he has a chip, blah blah. For anyone wondering, he was able to pry open a fence picket an squeeze himself out from the back (which is odd in itself as he never tries to get out...but now I know)/.

As a prologue, I wrap up my day, look at the jerk sitting next to me (see below JERK 1), and then we engage in his favorite activity (see JERK 2).

JERK1

JERK 2

We shall now adjourn to bed, thankful for each other.

YouTube is funny

Youtube tried to "warn' me for showing a clip of somebody lying in one of my videos. The offender claimed "copyright" and so YouTube bowed up at me. Ha ha. Bless their heart. Yet the video is still up?

You see, YouTube is confused. They seem to think it's a privilege for folks to use their software....that CEO needs to have a good look at that sort of culture because I know for a fact this was not one of their core values coming out the blocks....and they know I disagree wholeheartedly. They should take a step back and think why they are in business, because it's nothing more than a software that's free for people to use while they try to employ variant's of legalized pyramid schemes (to which I give them the finger) to that as well.I imagine in the time I've been doing videos, at least one person logged on for the sole purpose of watching a video of mine. During this time they looked around elsewhere, saw and ad for something they were interested in, and put some money in the advertiser's pocket. It's probably only happened once--but I'm sure it's happened. Regardless, that one time is more than I've benefited, so it seems like they are on the debit side with me.

Now understand, what's ironic, YouTube will turn a blind eye to all the sick, racist comments that they ALLOW users to spew, to which they happily store it for all to see in form of videos or comments in their big ol' computers (trust me, this is easily proven). But when someone points out a liar, it becomes red sector A.

i.e. When it comes to their bottom line possibly being affected, they try to drop the hammer. I say try because I just laugh at that shit. C'mon, when a company makes a large % of its revenue via loop holes, they become paranoid. When this happens, they invest heavily in compliance, and suddenly compliance drives the bus. Above all, don't get sued. At the time now, call a spade a spade (pun intended for YT's purposes) and don't insult the customers who know what's up.

That's really all I have. YouTube is just silly. You gotta love them, or at least laugh at them.

What's better than this?

Above all, my ONLY wish is that one of reading this, who want to know why, well....ask : "why?"

Today's subject focuses on a new "trend" in this underworld. That is to pretend like they know enough to inform newbies aluminum clutch shoes %do pretty much the opposite of what they state%. Specifically that aluminum clutch shoes outlast composite/nylon/"plastic" shoes.

Typically, once a fraudulent, flat-line basher gets cornered, she will start hissing things...often "Don't you have anything better to do than monitor us (he and fellow pretend agents). To that I answer: "HELL NO!" I can't think of anything better to do. Ha ha. I wake up every day thinking, "What RC fraud can I expose today"
So it goes....
Let's see:

  • LRP
  • Sealing engines
  • Big Block
  • ERCM
  • Temp Gun
  • Thick Diff Oil
  • Carnage
  • Alum (anything)

I'm sure I'm missing quite a few, but this is a short-list of "be cool or be cast out" ideologies that two of those basher forums will ban you for disagreeing with. Disagreeing and defending your statement. (Trust me, they live to bully newbies, but like all bullies when they get punched in the nose, well....)

Only wish is that one of you on here ask : "why?" State that you've read a compltetely different account in what to expect and are wondering if they can elaborate on why it is they are consulting on what they are l.

If you are reading this please understand one thing. My angst is against malice, not negligence.
So don't be afraid to state that you've read a completely different account and that you are wondering if "expert" can elaborate on why it is she is consulting you as such

If you are reading this please understand one thing: my angst is against malice, not negligence.

When pressed against it, these fakers will 'fess up'. Case in point is this fraud "Ninnon" on that RCNitroTalk forum.

Now normally me, husband, father, boss, respected citizen in my community would not call out people in such a manner, except when I see people purposely out to lying to others for their own self-gain...I say something. Always have and of course I also will. In this example, this guy is not just "ignorant" but he's malicious.

When I was on the forum he woofed to a bunch of folks how the Trophy was better than the Hyper 7. I contacted him privately and was very tactful in wanting to understand why he felt that way. I gave no info on "who I was" or anything, I just asked if he could elaborate, and made a point to tell him I was asking privately so he did not feel as though I was calling him out.

To my disappointment, he came off like a pompous ass, and processed to lay out a bunch of bullshit (factually wrong information such how the hyper is heavier, has fewer alum parts stock, how hyper 7 parts are harder to find even though though the Hyper 7 was manufactured in England, etc). I came back with facts and references, and also hooked him up with a video per his claim that the Hyper 7 is slow "regardless of what engine is on it". This is objective so I asked his opinion showing these clips:

So I took all the crap he fed me and slapped his ass silly with it. He then had that moment I always wanted to see, and that is when of these "get with it" bullies gets curious about this chump whose putting it on him and see what's being put down for real. My friend calls it "failed smile"

Of course, since he could no longer bully he came back with that old standard: "don't you have anything better to do than monitor us?" Already told you my response, that's that. I mean no offense to to Ninnon or anything, but he's a bitch, or should I say SHE is.

WHEW! How's that for a rant, eh? Okay, the new trendy thing making the rounds in the basher forums, it joins the ranks of "factually wrong information that those who want to fit in our spewing" (even though they know they have no idea) is..... So I write this not to beat a dead horse with my normal viewers, but instead forget all that, my charter here is to warn newbies. I would love nothing more than you each to ask "why" when you read statements on those basher forums that I am claiming are false. Most newbies gloss over my channel as "too experienced" but they end up coming back once they have been bitten by those snakes,.

Aluminum clutch shoes last longer than composite. ??

What I Know

I feel 100% differently. I can only talk to my experience when It comes to this. Here are is what I know:

  • I've run over 15 unique makes of aluminum shoes.
  • I've run over 20 unique makes of composite.

The difference is so staggering that it cannot be measured. The best I can come up with is 20-1. You get 20 gallons of composite to one gallon of alum. Now my predicament is I have yet to wear a set of composites. I've gone 12 gallons on my oldest set. However with alum I average 1.25?l gallons and I've yet to get more than two gallons. I'm rough on my clutches in that I lay it out with a spot in clutch set up. I'm happy to prove this to anyone who challenges my findings.

To that end, the lesson here is not about clutches. Instead it's about integrity. This person, Ninnon, he knows that he's performed ZERO analysis on this,. I'm happy to provide JOURNALS of data, and hours of footage backing up my beliefs, and am telling you that one does nto accidentally make such a claim. One has to purposely lie Why do I care? Why don't you care?

In all seriousness, I truy believe at the bottom of my heart that people such as this "Ninnon" faker are what's bad for this hobby. I shudder to think how many people they drove away. People who went on the wild goose chase guys like this sent them on, NEVER leading to success. So the newbies threw the arms in the air and called it a day. All so that guys like Ninnon can "fit in" on some whack internet forum, concerning toy cars (of which they failed miserably at). That's some pathetic shit, IMO. .

p.s.

As always, PLEASE tell them I said this. I welcome any and all civil conversation about any nitro-rc related subject. Until then, I'll do my part by posting information such as this (and I assure you I gain nothing for doing this).
